ABOUT CANDICE

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor licensed in NY (LMHC #006132) and FL (MH21814) with a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Central Florida. I’ve been trained and have certificates in Career Counseling, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

I’ve completed a certificate program at Manhattan Institute of Psychoanalysis focusing on understanding intersections of race, class, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, gender, immigration, generational trauma, and socio-political issues. My work in understanding nuances of the human spirit in very complex systems is ongoing. The relationships I build with clients are trauma-informed and culturally sensitive in supporting unique experiences.

My career as a therapist ranges in work with adolescents, families and adults navigating and specializing in:

  • Depression & Anxiety

  • Women’s Issues

  • Cultural Identity

  • Personal Development & Self-Esteem

  • Career & Life Transitions

  • Substance Use

  • Relationship Issues

  • Mindfulness & Body-Based Awareness

In addition to my clinical experience, I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), spent 4 years as a Mental Health Consultant for NYC public schools, have worked in medical primary care & managed care, and spent time teaching English at a university in China.

I’m a runner, traveler, food-adventurer, mindfulness & meditation enthusiast, and plant lover. Prospect Park and The Rubin Museum are my NYC sanctuaries and I value connection, creativity, and curiosity. I move through the world with many different lenses: as a biracial woman, a military brat and third culture kid, an ally and advocate, & of course - as a New Yorker.
